Mychelle Whitewood
Doctor in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Dr. Mychelle is the founder of Utopia Health Care. She is a fully qualified and registered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner with over 30 years of experience. She is passionate about the benefits of TCM for maintaining overall well-being and correcting a range of health disorders and diseases. Mychelle supports individuals in healing, evolving, and following their destiny.
Her journey into Chinese Medicine began as a teenager and was amazed that her acupuncture session felt as revitalizing as eight hours of sleep. Years later, after a long period of living overseas and travelling extensively, she returned to Melbourne and experienced her first Shiatsu treatment. The flame sparked years earlier burst afire, and she felt her soul calling to learn and practice the deep wisdom of TCM.
ACUPUNCTURIST
Even after years of study and practice in TCM, Mychelle still expresses amazement that acupuncture has such dramatic effects on the body; relieving headaches faster than Western pharmaceuticals or reducing a fever in moments. One needle may be all that is needed to correct an issue. Mychelle has developed into a highly skilled acupuncturist, able to elicit rapid results for a wide range of health issues.
CHINESE HERBALIST
Many Chinese herbs are used in food therapy. Mychelle will often prescribe Chinese herbs as part of a holistic response to health issues. They are known to support, nurture, and improve the health of the body and mind. Often added to cooking for therapeutic benefits, they can deliver a more targeted health outcome when taken separately, rebalancing and re-harmonizing the body. It can be as simple as using fresh ginger in tea or cooking. Ginger is warm and pungent, used to warm and calm the digestive system and help alleviate nausea.
SHIATSU PRACTITIONER
Mychelle is a dedicated Shiatsu practitioner who views this modality as a superior method for restoring balance within the body. Through nurturing touch, Shiatsu promotes healing across physical, mental, and emotional dimensions. After years of intensive study under a master practitioner, Mychelle has developed a profound respect for Shiatsu's effectiveness as a non-invasive and deeply therapeutic practice.
Shiatsu, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, shares similarities with acupuncture by stimulating the body's energy flow and enhancing circulation. Unlike some other massage techniques, Shiatsu is performed with the recipient fully clothed, applying pressure to specific points along the body's meridians to alleviate blockages and promote overall well-being. Mychelle's integration of Shiatsu into her practice reflects her commitment to holistic healing, offering clients a comprehensive approach that addresses the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit.
FOOD THERAPIST
Mychelle's extensive background in the hospitality industry, both internationally and within Australia, has cultivated her passion for food preparation, presentation, and nutrition. She delights in sharing wholesome meals with family and friends, reflecting her belief in the communal and nurturing aspects of food.
In her practice, Mychelle emphasizes the significance of food therapy, a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This approach classifies foods into five flavours—sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty—each corresponding to specific elements and seasons: By recommending specific foods aligned with these flavours, Mychelle addresses various health and emotional concerns, empowering individuals to achieve long-term well-being through dietary choices. She is dedicated to educating others about food therapy, recognizing it as an accessible and effective means to enhance health.
Spiritual healer
Mychelle is a dedicated spiritual healer who integrates a diverse range of holistic modalities to address the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit. Her extensive studies encompass the therapeutic use of crystals, vibrational essences, shells, flowers, essential oils, meditation, Bowen therapy, Kinergetics, and past life regression. By incorporating these elements into her practice, she enriches the traditional aspects of Chinese Medicine, offering a distinctive and comprehensive treatment experience that acknowledges the profound connections between physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
In addition to her healing practices, Mychelle holds a Certificate IV in Counselling. She has volunteered with organizations such as Care Ring and Lifeline, seamlessly integrating counselling into her sessions to provide empathetic and holistic support tailored to her client's unique needs.

Demonstrating an unwavering pursuit of knowledge, she regularly undertakes self-funded study trips to China, where she collaborates with master practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in hospital settings.
